Which fit should I choose?

Every shirt and trouser we make is offered two ways. Standard Size is cut to our published chart. Tailored Fit is cut to your own measurements, at no extra cost.

Which one is right for you comes down to a few things you can check in about a minute.

Choose Standard Size if

Your measurement sits clearly inside one band on the chart. Not at the edge of it. Our shirts run S to 2XL and cover a body chest of 37 to 48.5 inches; trousers run waist 30 to 38. If you are comfortably inside a band rather than sitting on the line between two, the standard cut will serve you.

Your proportions are even. The size that fits your chest also fits your shoulder and your sleeve, and the size that fits your waist also fits your seat and thigh. Most men are close enough to this that a chart works.

You want the piece soon. Standard Size ships in one to two days.

One thing worth knowing before you choose a size: our cut is tailored and classic rather than slim. If you have been sized by houses that cut close to the body, read the garment measurements on the size guide rather than assuming your usual letter.

Choose Tailored Fit if

You fall between two sizes. One is a little tight through the chest, the next is loose everywhere else. This is the most common reason to choose it, and the one it answers best.

You fall beyond the chart. Below 37 inches or above 48.5 inches through the chest, below 29.5 inches or above 38.5 inches at the waist. Outside those ends there is no standard size to recommend, and cutting to your measure is the straightforward answer rather than the exception.

One size does not fit you everywhere. Longer arms than the size suggests, broader shoulders, a waist and seat that ask for different sizes. A chart cuts to the average of a band. Your measurements are not an average.

What Tailored Fit asks of you

Two minutes with a tape, or the numbers your tailor already has. Once we have your measure, the piece is cut in two to three days. That is the whole of the difference — a little of your time, and a few days more.

What if you measure wrong

We confirm your numbers with you before anything is cut. If we cut against the wrong numbers, we remake the piece at our cost. You are not carrying that risk.
